Current Events: RIP Derrion Albert.

Posted in Uncategorized by littlemssunshiiine on September 28, 2009
As I’m watching this video of a 16 year old named, Derrion Albert, get beat to death by his peers with their fists, wooden planks and feet, makes me so upset. This unfortunate happening took place 3 blocks away from a Chicago, Illinois high school. I can’t relate to being terrified of what is going to happen if I walk around my neighborhood. I don’t fear everyday like it’s my last. I don’t know how it feels to lose people in my life at such a quick rate. When cases like these are displayed upon the world, it’s so hard for me to face because I can only do so much. I wish I could hug every struggling person out there and let them know the world is more than money, hate or conformity. These kids lack love. These kids lack faith in life. As a human being it’s hard for me to face the fact that people live like this daily and I am being ungrateful for my own life. Like I said I don’t know how it is to struggle, but I know how it feels to hurt.
I know cases like this happen everyday and this footage is just a taste of the truth, but it had to be shown. Any evidence of something as tragic as this needs to be shown. If the country or world see it, then the likely hood of someone helping out or trying to make a small difference in anyone’s life, still makes a difference.
I truthfully started to shed tears watching this video. It’s not only the fact that Derrion, a student, a brother, a son of a mother, is brutally beaten to the floor, but the fact that this is real. This is what happens everyday. Violence and hatred happens everyday and that was the most heartbreaking thing to me. I really wish I could stop gang violence and innocent deaths, but at the end of the day that’s life. We can’t ever go back in time nor can we eliminate violence with a snap of our fingers, but we can be helpful and smarter with our lives. We can try to be as positive as can be, if not for ourselves, then for the next generation.
Here is the footage of the horrifying event that led to many injuries and a innocent, Derrion Albert’s death:

Innovative: Solar Forest.

I love creative people and what’s cooler than creative people, is cool, creative architects. I’ll be honest, I don’t know much about architects or even architect at that, but I do know a cool idea when I see one. Check out this solar power forest designed by Neville Mars. It’s so innovative. Another plus about this idea is one is able to charge a car with it.

New Season: Autumn.

Happy First Day of Autumn!

I can’t wait till the weather gets a little cooler. Here in Bay Area, it feels like the fall weather isn’t approaching anytime soon. During this season, I expect cool winds, long sleeves and boots, but we’re still walking around in 85-100 degree Celsius heat. Hopefully, this will change asap.

Cover Page: Clipse.

Yet again, Complex comes out with another really cool cover. I think I’ve made a new goal for myself and that is to work with Complex. The articles/interviews are nice, the covers are on point and I get to work with various artist.

Anyway, here is the October issue featuring Clipse collaborating with artist Kaws. Complex is its own individual magazine in itself because like many issues this is just one out of two covers. Tomorrow they are releasing another cover with a female artist.

Can’t Wait: New York, I Love You.

Posted in Uncategorized by littlemssunshiiine on September 18, 2009
I’ve been waiting way too long for this! When I first heard rumors of the release I was very excited until I found out the dates weren’t set. Now that the wait is over, New York, I Love You is set to release October 16th. This film is a jump off from the original Paris, Je T’aime which featured a copious amount of directors and actors that made separate short films.
The concept of this film is to bring many stories about love interpreted by different directors in one specific city starting with Paris, France. The thing about this film is that the stories are all different stories made into short films. They have no correlation to one another throughout the whole movie, but with one main idea behind it, love. That is what makes this film so special in my eyes. The way all these short films connect on one basic level which is love. If you still can’t grasp the concept I highly recommend watching Paris, Je T’aime. It’ll have you falling  in love with the city without even being there!

I wish life was a lot more simple like it was as a child. Things were pushed to be tested. Everyone grows up things are now expected. I miss the younger days. No pressure, just enjoying what life brings to the table.

New New: Hair Color.

Posted in Uncategorized by littlemssunshiiine on September 16, 2009

For some time now, I’ve been meaning to put a little change into my look, starting with my hair. The last time I’ve done anything to my hair, as far as coloring goes, was when I was in seventh grade. It was bleached and then added a purple-red color to it. Which then faded to leave my hair with just the blonde. Then leaving the blonde for the tips of my hair. Eventually being cut off and left with all of my original color, dark brown or I should say black. I knew the hair cut I wanted, but I didn’t know exactly how I wanted to color it.

With the help of Vanessa from Avalon Spa & Salon(in Fremont, CA), she knew just the color to add without making too much of a dramatic statement. Ultimately I wanted hot pink in my hair, but the rest I left up to her. She bleached the chunks of my hair I wanted pink then added a violet red base all over my hair. Not to reach too far of a change I still wanted a dark base color. Finally, she added the hot pink, gave my hair a few more layers, cut my bangs with the betty page esque and wa-lah! My hair is now complete!
These pictures aren’t the greatest examples to show the quality of my hair, the hot pink looks more red and my hair looks black! Haha.. That’s Photo Booth for ya! I guess you’d have to see it in person to really make sense of it.
If you want to go to the same place I went visit AvalonSpa.net or call (510)791-2885 to make an appointment. Make sure you ask for Vanessa!
