Sunshine State Of Mind

Say Hello To The Nine.

It’s just a hop, skip & jump away to another unpredictable year.
It’s almost our turn California. We’re close to going crazy when a rerun of the Times Square New Year’s Eve ball drops, so hang on tight.
Another year has past by and many more years to come!

Three cheers for 2008!

Hip, hip, hooray!
Hip, hip, hooray!
Hip, hip, hooray!

Finally! I’m back from my mini, city hopping, long car rides of a vacation to L.A. and Las Vegas. My internet is back on track and I’m ready to blog.

Going on vacation is always fun with my family and it’s never a waste of time, but here are some things that should and shouldn’t happen during this valuable family time:

-Never switch schedules at work, on the last minute due to an unpleasant manager and a possible write up.

- Never sit in the middle seat of the car a.k.a “the b-word seat”. It’s especially reserved for younger brothers or sisters.

- Always use the little girl’s or boy’s room when arriving at a rest stop or gasoline station. Failure to due so will cause unplanned rest stops in the middle of the free way, with toilet paper.

- Never let your older sister pick a car game, she’ll probably end it before it even started.

For example

Older sister: Hey! Let’s play a game! You have to find out what movie I’m thinking about by asking me yes or no questions.
Me: Um, ok. Is it a love story?
Older sister: No.
(I keep asking her questions and I go on and on, but I still haven’t figured it out.)
Older Sister: You suck! You don’t the right questions to ask!
Me: Fine, you ask the questions and the movie I’m thinking about.
Older sister: Ok. Is it a recent movie?
Me: Yes.
Older sister: Did it come out within 5 years ago?
Me: Yes…
Older sister: Is a love story?
Me: Yes.
(Older sister continues to ask the “right” questions and I feel like she’s on the right track.)
Older sister: Is it The Namesake?
Me: No.
Older sister: You said it was an Indian movie!
Me: Slumdog Millionaire!
Older sister: WTH!? I haven’t seen that yet!(even though I would talk about it for hours after watching the film.)
She starts going off about some unspoken rule that the movie your thinking about has to be movies we all seen. Which doesn’t make too much sense, but I won’t get into that. In conclusion, is just what we wrapped up with. Game Over.

- Always take long car rides as an excuse to buy enough junk food and drinks to open up your own store or feed Africa, which ever one you prefer.

- Always bring a book, and iPod, portable DVD player, or something to keep you occupied while everyone else is sleeping, minus the driver.

- Never underestimate how much fun a family road trip can be, even if you have a severe case of stuffy nose and coughs for days.

Nothing beats family.

Frost/ Nixon.

Posted in Uncategorized by littlemssunshiiine on December 26, 2008

Going to the theaters, I was planning to finally watch ‘MILK’, but unfortunately, I couldn’t catch the last showing. I decided to watch Frost/ Nixon. If you don’t know here’s the story from Yahoo!Movies:

For three years after being forced from office, Nixon remained silent. But in summer 1977, the steely, cunning former commander-in-chief agreed to sit for one all-inclusive interview to confront the questions of his time in office and the Watergate scandal that ended his presidency.(Full description here)
Passing high school history classes with flying colors, I still had a vague idea about the Watergate scandal. Watching this film really brought to my attention on how much this affected the country. Frank Langella as President Nixon and Michael Sheen as David Frost did a fantastic job. They embodied there character which led to a great film. Don’t miss this historical film that takes one into the eyes of a dirty politician and a starving show host, you won’t regret it.

And it goes a little something like this:

I woke up this morning anticipating Christmas Eve and all the joy circulating the air.

I had a bunch of ideas to blog about, but my internet at home let me down. I couldn’t blog all day, until now.
To all my readers: I will be posting a handful of new post so keep up!
